Geographical location map of Suzhou section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The Suzhou section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal has a total length of about 95 km (the length of the ancient canal south of the Taipu River is about 13 km). Suzhou is one of the birthplaces of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and it is also the only city along the canal to apply for inscription with the “concept of the ancient city,” which presents a unique urban historical and cultural landscape of the Grand Canal
