The Original Article was published on 07 March 2024

Correction: Heritage Science (2024) 12: 81 https://doi.org/10.1186/s40494-024-01198-1

Following publication of the original article [1], the authors would like to replace the second panel of Fig. 5 and Fig. 11.

As identified by the authors, the second panel of Fig. 5 does not pertain to the beacon tower of the Ming Dynasty and therefore it does not align with the content of the article.

The revised figure illustrates the rammed earth material of the Ming Dynasty beacon tower as well as the panoramic landscape and the surrounding topography, providing a more comprehensive and clear representation of the article’s primary message.

The correct and incorrect version of the second panel of Fig. 5 can be found below:

Correct

figure a

Three-dimensional point cloud model of the current condition and restoration of the beacon tower

Incorrect

figure b

Further to this, the authors would like to replace Fig. 11.

The revised figure depicts the roof, palisade wall, platform foundation, and additional components of the hollow watchtower, offering a more detailed portrayal of the tower during the Longqinq to Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1567–1620).

The correct and incorrect version of Fig. 11 can be found below:

Correct

figure c

Three-dimensional model of the current condition and restoration of the hollow watch tower

Incorrect

figure d

The original article has been updated.
